The fourth named tropical storm of the 2013 hurricane season formed in the tropical Atlantic on Wednesday and at 5:00 am EDT on Friday the centre of Tropical Storm Dorian was located about 1,425 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands.
According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Dorian was moving towards the west-northwest near 20 mph. A turn toward the west and an increase in forward speed was expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph, with higher gusts. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 60 miles from the centre.
Satellite imagery indicated that Dorian had become less organized early Friday and slow weakening is expected during the next day or so.
