Bondage is the tying, binding, or restraining of a person for the sexual, aesthetic, and/or psychological pleasure of the parties involved. Rope, cuffs, bondage tape, self-adhesive bandages, or other restraints may be used for this purpose.
History of Bondage
Modern bondage dates back to the 1800s, but was based on an ancient eastern practice. The practice evolved differently in the East and West and each has its own traditions. Although the basics are the same, there are some differences in techniques and how the person is tied up. In the east, it is the most advanced form of sexual play and in the west, it is the simplest. In addition, western bondage
evolved to include restraining someone in order to perform another act, such as spanking or a sexual act and the act of binding someone is associated with overpowering them. In the east, bondage grew out of a more sensual tradition and the act is seen as a journey that has a meditative aspect.
What is bondage?
Bondage is the act of tying up, or restraining, a partner. In these relationships, one may be the dominant and the other submissive, or roles can be reversed at various times. Bondage is the letter B in BDSM, but may or may not be part of other BDSM activities. In some cases, bondage is used with other aspects of BDSM, but others use it alone with other sex acts.
Bondage is part of many people’s sex lives, whether intermittently or on a regular basis. It can be part of foreplay in which the restrained partner surrenders to the dominant partner and allows the unrestrained partner to guide the sex acts without having the ability to interfere. The act of bondage is mutually consensual between the restrained and unrestrained partners.
Bondage can range from mild bedroom bondage to more aggressive forms of bondage, performed along with other BDSM
activities. While the partner is restrained, the unrestrained partner can perform stimulating activities, such as oral sex, masturbation, or a vibrator, as well as intercourse. Sexual fantasies of one or both partners are often acted out in bondage.
What is the attraction?
Men and women alike find bondage to be appealing. Bondage is one of the most popular sexual games or fetishes for both sexes, although many men and women have a preference for either the dominant or submissive role.
There are many reasons people may find bondage appealing. Some derive pleasure from submitting or from their partner’s submission. Others see bondage as a means to an end when used with other sadomasochistic behaviors. Still others enjoy the feeling of helplessness that comes from being tied up and find the passive role to be freeing.
Bondage is firmly rooted in a wide range of sexual practices, among people of all walks of life, and is a staple in porn. How individuals find willing participants is as varied as the people. Some use bondage in various forms with their spouses or partners. Others meet people in local bars, community chat, on bulletin boards, or look for escorts on websites such as Prodomme.com.
